My twin boys and I are enjoying our beautiful San Clemente weather and have been to the beach almost every day this summer.
This sweet paste bird necklace and vintage wrapped shell earrings have been my go to jewelry. Between soccer camp, swimming lessons, the beach and a relaxing family vacation, I've designed some fun new pieces for my stores. I just shipped new Relics to Fred Segal last Monday and I'm working on new gorgeous jewels for Juxtaposition. Hope our all having a fun summer!

Alexandra Cirimelli, the owner of Serenite Maison was born and raised in San Francisco. In 2004 moved to Leaper's Fork TN and open her beautiful store. Alex's style is eclectic and fun, she collects cool old French treasures and mixes them with new items. Her favorite things to buy are, antiques and one-of-a-kind items that can't be found in a showroom at the mart. She sells hand made jewelry and bed linens by designers who work from their home and put their heart into each piece they create.
I recently read that Serenite Maison has a celeb following ...Sheryl Crow ,Ashley Judd, Kix Brooks and Michael McDonald all love this gorgeous store. Faith Hill recently raved about Serenite Maison in "Vogue Magazine". Sheryl Crow purchased her first Relics necklace and Michael McDonald bought a pair of Relics earrings for his wife on a shopping trip to Serenite Maison. I've seen pictures of this beautiful store and I have a feeling it's even better in person.

The Palihouse Hotel

I went to an Emmy event last Saturday with my sister in law, Andrea, at the stylish Palihouse Hotel. The Palihouse is such a fun place to visit, it has a cool vintage urban vibe. They are all about the details at this cozy European getaway. The Hall is a quaint French basserie located inside the hotel. Customers dine under the stars in a courtyard filled with marble top French bistro tables. They even used a vintage typewriter to print all the menus on old ledger paper. Paste lockets are one of the old finds that inspire me the most. The round locket has a beautiful old lace holy card of crowned Mary and baby Jesus. The oval paste locket is from the 1800's and is absolutely gorgeous. Under the covex glass is very old hand cut lace star and initials... AM for Ava Maria. I love finding amazing pieces like these, they make designing so much fun!

I shipped my newest collection of jewels to Fred Segal today, just in time for Memorial weekend. I love these old lockets and pendants,they all have the best patina! The French cross locket has a lithograph of Mary with the most beautiful muted colors. My absolute favorite pendants are the French books with old photos. I found my first one at a local flea market years ago and I have been in love with them ever since. They are so hard to find now and are very expensive when I do come across them. I use to find them all the time and for a fairly reasonable price. Those were the good ole days..now I have pickers in Europe finding things for me. I'm blessed that my favorite things to create with are still out there but, I do miss being able to find the delicious inspiring pieces myself. Ahhh...to be at a Paris flea market! Hopefully I will be going very soon.

The Original Double Wrap Necklace ... by Relics

I am frequently asked, "What would be considered your signature Relics piece?"... It is definitely my Double Wrap Necklace. I designed my first Wrap Necklace years ago and it is still my most popular necklace. When I started to design this piece I wanted to create something that I had never seen before. This necklace had to be a piece that could be worn different ways and that could be paired with anything. My inspiration to design the original Double Wrap Necklace came from the amazing mercury glass ball at the bottom of the Pearl Wrap shown in this picture. The mercury glass ball was given to me by my favorite Grandmother Shirley VanWinkle when I was a little girl. In the 1940's my Grandfather was in the US Army and was sent over seas. Sidney sent his beloved Shirley a charm bracelet with these mercury glass balls on it. Each glass charm has a soft pastel picture of all the places in Europe he hoped to take her to one day . So Romantic!!
Every Double Wrap Necklace I design is one-of-a-kind. Over the years, I've used various color combinations and hung vintage paste lockets, pendants and crosses from the bottom of each necklace. Not only can this necklace be turned and hooked to be worn several ways but it can be dressed up or down. I love wearing my Double Wrap Necklace long with my destroyed Levi shorts and a tee.

I love doing trunk shows! I get phone calls all the time from the girls at Rebel telling me sweet stories about the clients who buy my pieces. Grenouille { French for two frogs}

I met Coco and her brother Freddie around 5 years ago at Long Beach flea market. I was instantly drawn to their style and once I got to know them, their warm spirits. It's rare for me to meet people who find beauty in delapitated, odd french things. They have a 2000 sq. ft. warehouse filled with antiques that they import from France. Coco and Fred are originally from France and reside with their families in San Francisco. If your lucky enough to live in the bay area, you can visit their warehouse or see them at Alameda Flea Market. For those of us who live in Southern California, they come down our way with a truck load of amazing french treasures and sell at local flea markets.

I had the best time today at the flea market searching for goodies for my upcoming trunk shows. I bought this great french velvet display piece from Freddie & Coco. I have been wanting it ever since they brought it home from their last trip to France. This is the personal side of my story that I haven't shared...
In 2004 my twin boys Cody and Caleb turned two, I noticed at that time they had developmental delays. I immediately threw myself into getting them the help they needed. My life became all about taking them to therapies and learning how to follow through with everything at home. Quickly, I realized that in order to be a good Mom I needed something for me. I started carving out time for myself while my babies took their nap and when they went to bed at night. I found the respite I needed in my long time passion... jewelry designing. While going through this difficult time, I decided to push through and make it a great time in my life. For years I had been waiting for the perfect time turn my love for designing jewelry into a business. I realized that there was never going to be a "perfect" time especially now! My time was right then. The first thing I did was pray and ask God to provide the right opportunities for me. I was not just designing for fun anymore but, with the determination to start my jewelry line. My goal when I first got started was to stay small so that I could design everything myself and put my family first. I decided sell to a few special boutiques and build my clientele within those stores.
While wearing one of my long double rosary necklaces my friend Tracy got stopped by the buyer from Rebel in Fashion Island. She asked for my information and that's how I got in my first store. I hope my journey encourages you to step out and follow your dreams regardless of what's going on around you.

My Dreams of Becoming a Jewelry Designer Began When I was a Little Girl Playing In Great Grandma Lola's Jewelry

From a young age, I have had a love for designing jewelry using vintage elements. I inherited my great grandmother Lola's jewelry that I played dress up in when I was a little girl. When I was a teenager, I started reworking her vintage chic jewelry and gave it the modern edge I wanted to wear. My passion grew over the years and led to the fulfillment of my childhood ambition... the launching of Relics Jewelry in 2004.

Each of my one-of-a-kind creations is a blend of old and new. I find inspiration for my collections in the beautiful patina and worn details of rare vintage finds.

I have been collecting and designing jewelry using vintage elements for over 20 years now. God has opened the doors for me to be featured in amazing stores and has blessed me beyond my dreams. I am grateful to my stores and the wonderful clientele of women who have continued to collect my jewelry over the years.
